AOL: Unless you are a paying customer they really do...

~3573's review of AOL customer service

GetHuman: So how would you sum up your experience for GetHuman's AOL customer community? We'll censor any IDs, numbers, or codes and any inappropriate words here out of respect to the millions of other customers using this resource.
~3573: Unless you are a paying customer they really don't help. I just wanted to let them know about people representing themselves as AOL employees when they contact you. They hack your computer and then connect you to a tech that shows you the trojan viruses and hackers your computer has but they can remove it for a mere one-time charge of $***. Warning: They get into your computer and then you cannot get online or do anything until it's repaired by a qualified technician. The tech will give you his title, phone *, license * and location. *Frank Calamine, Windows Level Five Technician, *-***-***-**** ext. *** San Diego, CA. License ID **** Accredited by BBB*when you call it is not AOL, sounds more like a call center. When they were told that I was making the public aware of their scam they changed their tune and stated they worked alongside with Microsoft. Beware!!!!!
GetHuman: Let's quantify your experience contacting AOL. On a scale of 1 to 5, how easy is it go get help on a AOL problem?
~3573: I'd give them a four out of five for ease of finding your way to help.
GetHuman: What about quality of communication. How would you rate that on a 1 to 5 scale?
~3573: I'd give them a three out of five on communication.
GetHuman: And what about AOL's ability to quickly and effectively address your problem?
~3573: For that I would say one out of five.
GetHuman: And finally- any advice for other AOL customers?
~3573: Call them early in the day or late. Don't forget any personal or account information you might need for AOL to know who you are.
GetHuman: Well there you have it. Some useful feedback and words from ~3573 taken from his AOL customer service problem that occurred on November 19th, 2017.
