~Anonymous: Horrible if you are a cosigner and the primary defaults. For five years I have had trouble finding out info on this loan I am shoving **** to each month, because I am not the primary. Just last night, after many phone confrontations with SM over the last * yrs, it was determined that a key puncher entered my birth date wrong and that is why I have been unable to establish an online account to easily monitor if my money is going to the loan. Funny, with their incorrect info, they had no problem reporting to my credit when my ex defaulted on this school loan. They also hold my checks for as long as possible before crediting the account....helps in interest collections (that's a fraudulent business practice). If you want to pay by phone to ensure an immediate credit...** bucks each time...And if you do autopay, Sallie Mae will keep collecting when your loan is already paid off...you have to take it up with your bank. Stupid for me to cosign for my then husband* however, SM has been at
