Tip from Mercantilism1

When the next manual for the BMW 5 Series is published, you need to identify all the display lights that can appear on the dash display when there is a problem. Recently there was a problem in my BMW 535xi and a light icon appeared on the dash. I later had it identified as the engine light but it was no where to be found in the manual. When I brought the car in to be checked out, even the service advisor could not find the symbol in the book. I needed to identify the problem over the phone to BMW and couldn't describe the engine light symbol having never had it identified previously to me. I was going through the pages of symbols and it wasn't there. Such an important display symbol should certainly be in the manual so that people like me who are unfamiliar with all the icons and symbols can explain what the problem is when speaking over the phone or through BMW Assist.
