I called to notify Bank of America that I would be using my debit card in Europe. I was bounced from one person to another for over half an hour, finally ending in the Spanish department. Every time I went through the whole rigamarole and told them that I'd opened the account in Washington state, they'd say, "I can't handle that--let me transfer you to another associate." I finally hung up on them. I called back a short time later and started over again, impressing upon them how frustrated I was. The rep sounded understanding and said he would stay on the phone with me till I got to the right person, but my call was dropped and I had to start over. I called again, this time following prompts for lost & stolen cards. After that I was transferred one more time, and after that I finally got through to the right person in the Debit Card Customer Protection Department, who was able to put a travel notification on my account. The whole ordeal took about an hour. FBOA!
