Tip from psychdoc52

I called the 1-800-829-1040 number and spent 30 minutes on hold yesterday, trying to get the balance due department. The guy gave me another phone number, saying it would ring through to the correct department. But today, I have spent an hour and 15 minutes on hold, and when it finally rang through, the girl said she couldn't help me because she wasn't trained in that department. When I asked for a correct number, she couldn't give it to me. So I'm now in an endless que for what is no doubt the wrong department. I haven't got a clue how to get in touch with real human beings at the correct department. People might be more willing to pay their taxes if the Feds didn't make it so onerous.
