GetHuman-324228: My * year old son has asthma and is prescibed a daily medication as well as an inhaler. After filling his prescription, which took additional two days due to needing special authorization, I recieved a letter from Express Scripts stating they want my son to first try a step one medication. I am fine with generic medications, however the medications that they listed were for allergies (allegra and claratin), not for asthma. When I called, the rep was confused about why I didn't want the less expensive medication, even though it would not treat his condition. I am sick of these insurance companies that only care about saving money and not what is in the best interest of a patient. If the doctor prescribed a certain medication, it is because that it was the patient needs. They also push mail order which from what I've read has all kinds of problems. I want to get the medications that are prescribed when I need them.
