~user08453: Their call center is based in Manila, Philippines. Woman on other end was polite but ultimately futile. Situation: United charged me $** for a required seat upgrade to Economy Plus (only seat class available at time of ticket purchase) even though invoice said it would be waived. At time of check-in, Economy seats were available so I switched to one. Still no refund. Agent said she could not refund me, and said I must go to united.com instead. Now I am required to fill out online forms and provide documentation for something that was United's fault in the first place.**Their system should refund seat downgrades automatically when you check in, or an agent should be able to do it instantly while on the phone. United is a terrible airline with worthless customer service.
