GetHuman: So how would you sum up your experience for GetHuman's HigherOne customer community? We'll censor any IDs, numbers, or codes and any inappropriate words here out of respect to the millions of other customers using this resource.
~twirked1: As a student forced to sign up for a Higher One account just to be able to receive my financial aid awards - regardless of not needing or wanting an account w*them, I question the legalities of this practice. Funds are taxpayer supported fed grants and loans to the student for student education* how can a college select a for-profit banking institution(Higher One) to handle fund disbursement, which then establishes, w*out student request, a checking acct, and assesses fees and charges to the student for access to initial federal funds? They say they provide a free ATM on campus (is always depleted of funds within the first few hrs after funds become available - and every day for up to * wks following fund availability), charge for wiring to your bank of choice, charge for entire box of checks to write one in order to move funds, charge to use any other ATM besides theirs which aren't kept filled, charge for cashiers check to move your funds, etc etc. How is it even legal?
GetHuman: Let's quantify your experience contacting HigherOne. On a scale of 1 to 5, how easy is it go get help on a HigherOne problem?
~twirked1: I'd give them a five out of five for ease of finding your way to help.
GetHuman: What about quality of communication. How would you rate that on a 1 to 5 scale?
~twirked1: I'd give them a two out of five on communication.
GetHuman: And what about HigherOne's ability to quickly and effectively address your problem?
~twirked1: For that I would say one out of five.
GetHuman: And finally- any advice for other HigherOne customers?
~twirked1: Call them early in the day or late. Don't forget any personal or account information you might need for HigherOne to know who you are.
