Perhaps metopcs end game is to ensure that no device ever used through them finds its way to another network. It is totally a run around. Yesterday with phone in hand we went to * metroocs stores. The recommended option was "ebay" at the first. At the second, an *-**** that recommended a visit to a corporate store since they could not help after over ** minutes on the phone!!! The *rd store, even with the codes in hand that were requested could not proceed cause they needed yet another piece of data, previously in requested! Probably highly likely that the FTC may be building a case against them. I am going to look into that and out our experience in the mix too.
