~DIS GUSTED: This is a disgrace. The Gen Svcs Agency of the fed government recently procured $*** million dollars, yes $***M, to open a new state of the art Soc Sec facility in Urbana, MD. Apparently, they were unable to budget * bucks to improving their customer service. I have been trying to get through to the (***) ***-**** for a week and a half now. Each time I call the waiting time is ** to an hour and I am unable to hold on that long. I imagine it's not even the SSA employees fault, they must be overwhelmed trying to take all the calls. It is the fault of the telephone vendor the State contracted with, that is unable to meet the demands of the high in-bound call volume. Did they not plan ahead for the baby-boomer onslaught heading for their door? You pay your SS "dues" all your life and in return, we just want to be able to talk to a live person for a few minutes. Is that too much to ask for, to get some guidance and have our simple questions answered ? Not to mention they are maki

~DIS GUSTED: I'd give them a two out of five for ease of finding your way to help.
GetHuman: What about quality of communication. How would you rate that on a 1 to 5 scale?
~DIS GUSTED: I'd give them a one out of five on communication.
GetHuman: And what about Social Security's ability to quickly and effectively address your problem?
~DIS GUSTED: For that I would say two out of five.

~DIS GUSTED: Call them early in the day or late. Don't forget any personal or account information you might need for Social Security to know who you are.
