~anonymous: As part of an "upgrade" Sovereign Bank has changed it's way of showing checking account balances online. ****I made a deposit and was surprised to see the funds show up as part of "available balance" (as opposed to merely "pending") on the same day. ****I took this as a true statement. ****However, I got stuck with a bunch of overdraft charges because the funds were not yet available. ****I was told by a customer service rep that showing funds as available (in the online statement) even though they are not available, is part of the new method of doing business. ****No more using online banking to see how much you can safely debit by looking at "available balance" as opposed to "ledger balance." ****I was told that you have to keep the bank policy in mind--$*** becomes available on the first day following a deposit* the rest becomes available on the *nd business day.*This change is an upgrade for the bank as it should allow it to reap a windfall in overdraft charges from uninformed cust
