~jill: Once your computer is out of warranty, you're technically not allowed to get phone support. So the directions work up until the answering service realizes you are out of warranty, and then it hangs up on you. However, in my case, I called the Acer store line first, and ended up with a case number to be given to a "level * manager." I tried the pay-for-support number and they were nice enough to transfer me directly to the non-pay support line, probably since I already had a case number. From there I again talked to someone in south asia (not very helpful) but once I got to the level * manager they were very helpful. It's incredibly easy to get to a real person through the Acer store number, but the person I talked to there was an idiot.
GetHuman: Let's quantify your experience contacting Acer. On a scale of 1 to 5, how easy is it go get help on a Acer problem?
~jill: I'd give them a three out of five for ease of finding your way to help.
GetHuman: What about quality of communication. How would you rate that on a 1 to 5 scale?
~jill: I'd give them a two out of five on communication.
GetHuman: And what about Acer's ability to quickly and effectively address your problem?
~jill: For that I would say one out of five.

~jill: Call them early in the day or late. Don't forget any personal or account information you might need for Acer to know who you are.
