~Kat8642779: I moved into a Progress Energy service area Feb **th, **** and paid almost $*** to have my service activated. Having issues receiving mail, I didn't get my next bill until April *nd (Saturday). I called today (Monday April *th) to ask them to accept my full payment on my next payday (Apr **th) because I had already used my previous pay on rent. They refused to accept it saying that they couldn't grant extensions until I had been a customer for * months. The lady offered to give me a number to call for assistance getting the bill paid. After waiting a few more minutes, she came back on the line and said "I'm sorry. Our system is down. I can't give you a number right now but you can call us back later." My bill is due tomorrow and I have to find a way to get a loan to pay it now so my family can continue to have electricity. This is a horrible company and next time I move, I will be sure to check the ratings and service on the companies in that area and avoid Progress Energy at all costs
