GetHuman-439424: ** months ago I withdrew $** from my account and had a remaining balance of over $***. The next day the State of Illinois erroneously ceased the balance of my account. The bank gave Illinois $** too much. A week later I found out about the error. I asked the bank to close my account until I could contact Illinois. I was told I could not close my account if there was a negative balance AND that overdraft charges would be added daily until I paid in full. The problem is simple. The bank made a mistake. Whether it was a human error or a machine error due to poor programming makes no difference. I DID NOT OVER DRAW MY ACCOUNT.*I went to the branch. I got an apology. I told them to close mt account. They said they would and that I owed nothing. *Three months later I get a harrassing letter saying I owed the bank over $*** dollars. The deficit was now ** times the size of my last withdrawl and I had money in the bank when I made the withdrawl. I went to the bank and got another apology. We'r
